Direct eye contact with a cormorant

I have approached the cormorants that fish close to my Florida home very slowly and they have come to accept my very close presence. I find their eyes to be mesmerizing and went for a narrow DOF to hone the viewer’s eyes on the eyes and facial area of the bird. This shot has gone Best of Show at the 31st annual Boyd Hill Nature Preserve photo contest which was contested in 7 divisions.
