I wanted to shoot near the ocean for quite some time this summer, but didn’t really had the opportunity. The best spot I found was Etretat, in the north of France. It was a 3 hour drive from Paris, so I asked my friend Mathilde (a Model with whom I worked for a many occasions) to come with me to Etretat to do a fashion/swimwear shoot. We also had a Make-up Artist with us ( Ayumi, also a friend).
Once the team was complete, and the date was set, we needed some luck with the weather. North of France isn’t the optimal location for good weather. We were even lucky Even if our trip was on a cloudy day. After lunch, the majority of the clouds disappeared and we shot from 2pm to 5pm while changing locations along the cost.
The picture above is from the first set we shot. We were on the cost just in front of one of the cliffs. It was shot with a Nikon D800 and a 85mm AF-D f1.8. On a side note, it can seems strange to still use an 85mm AF-D, especially because I have a 70-200mm f2.8 VR II and a 105mm f2.8 Macro VR, but I just love this lens. The fact that it is an old lens it’s much easier to get nice reflections or flares.
